A brief overview of the four series of Blake's 7. Spoilers ahead for those who have never watched the show.
Roj Blake, a former resistance leader whose memories were erased by the Federation, has his past restored. Framed and sentenced to the penal colony Cygnus Alpha, he is transported on the prison ship London. There he meets Jenna, Vila, Gan and Avon. After a failed mutiny they board a mysterious derelict and claim it as the Liberator. Zen, the ship’s computer, accepts them. They rescue Vila and Gan, later recruit the Auronar telepath Cally, and acquire the super-computer Orac. The series ends with Orac’s prediction of the Liberator’s destruction.
The crew continues the fight against the Federation. Travis becomes a more personal nemesis. During an assault on Control, Gan is killed. The search for Star One — the Federation’s central computer complex — leads them to the edge of the galaxy, where they discover an alien invasion from Andromeda is already underway. In the climactic battle Blake and Jenna become separated from the others. The Liberator is critically damaged.
The Liberator is lost. Blake and Jenna are missing. Avon assumes leadership of the surviving crew (Vila and Cally). They are joined by Dayna Mellanby and Del Tarrant. Operating from Xenon Base, the group continues guerrilla actions against a weakened but still dangerous Federation, with Servalan as a constant and personal threat. The tone becomes colder and more cynical under Avon’s command.
The crew acquires the freighter Scorpio and the computer Slave. Cally is killed early in the series; the gunfighter Soolin later joins. The group continues hit-and-run operations while Avon searches for any trace of Blake. The final episode on Gauda Prime brings Blake and Avon face to face in a tragic, ambiguous confrontation that has remained one of the most discussed endings in television science fiction.
